Spanish facsimile edition of Vincent van Gogh sketchbooks

Through the agreement that Van Gogh Museum Enterprises contracted in 2014 with the Spanish publisher Centro PDA S.L., a special edition of all Vincent van Gogh’s sketchbooks will be published in 2015 especially for the Spanish market. This is a facsimile edition of seven sketchbooks from the collection of the Van Gogh Museum. Four of these were published previously as facsimiles by the Folio Society in 2013. In addition to the four sketchbooks that Van Gogh produced for his art work between 1880 and 1890, the Centro PDA S.L publication also contains the three sketchbooks of drawings that Van Gogh made before the time when he emerged as an artist. Van Gogh made these drawings for Betsy Tersteeg, the daughter of his boss at The Hague art dealers Goupil & Cie, where he worked from 1869 to 1873. The three sketchbooks for Betsy Tersteeg have not been published in this way before.

Intimate glimpse
The sketchbooks provide an intimate glimpse into the life and working methods of the painter, with sketches in pencil, pen, ink and chalk, personal notes, addresses and lines of poetry.

The edition will be published in 2015 and will be accompanied by a textbook and a DVD. The set will be published exclusively in Spain and Andorra.
